Adventure #2
Bathurst to Adelaide

After leaving Bathurst on a cold but clear winters day we headed west towards Dubbo. We stopped at a beautiful park at Wellington for lunch and checked our email at the local library. We then made our way to the outskirts of Narromine and stayed the night in a small roadside rest area. We made an early start the next day ending the day at another rest area west of Cobar. This rest area was popular with travelers as by the morning there were 12 caravans or motorhomes parked there.

Arriving in Broken Hill mid-afternoon we settled into the Broken Hill City Caravan Park on the west side of town and made plans for our activities for the next few days. We enjoyed a great day at Day dream mine on th eway to Silverton. It was an old mine worked by Cornish workers. It was a very authentic experience not for the claustrophobic or those overly tall.

The Geocentre and the flying doctor were also very informative and well worth the time.

Adelaide

A great day out for the family is the St Kilda Playground. This area is enormous, exciting and free. There were slides, rides, tunnels, flying foxes and mazes as well large grassed areas with gas barbeques with tables and seats. Adults were just as excited and involved in all aspects of the playground as the children, so it is a must visit for families or those young at heart. (We were a little surprised in today's litigious society that some of the activities could be a little dangerous.)

Mannum Falls Walk

We stopped at the parking lot and because it was very windy and cold we put on our coats straight away. We went passed the toilets and went up steep slopes to the top of a large hill to see the waterfall. There was a drought so the waterfall was dry. We played on the big rocks which were everywhere. We walked back along a ridge to the carpark and had a birthday cake for Helen our cousin. She was 6 years old.
